The summer school for expatriates is intended primarily for people from Czech expatriate communities abroad who want to learn the language of their ancestors or to improve and develop their knowledge of Czech and spend some time in the midst of Czech culture. You can look forward to a combination of interactive language learning, fun workshops, interesting lectures and friendly evenings. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion.
A scholarship from the Czech government under the Programme for the Support of Czech Cultural Heritage Abroad is available for the full programme.

The tutorial part of the Summer Czech Course for Czech Expatriates includes 90 lessons (18 teaching days / 5 lessons per day). The course price includes textbooks and internal teaching materials. The students will be tutored by a professional team of ILPS CU teachers with many years of experience in teaching Czech. The social and cultural part of the programme takes place in the afternoons or evenings and at weekends.

The Czech Course for Expatriates is traditionally held in the spa town of Poděbrady. Poděbrady is located about an hour's drive from the Prague airport, it is a lovely spa town with a colonnade, parks, restaurants and a wide range of cultural and social activities. The course takes place in the heart of Poděbrady, in a 14th-century castle with a large garden in which many afternoon and evening events take place.

The government scholarship fully covers tuition fees, accommodation and meals in the form of meal vouchers. The scholarship for the full programme of the Summer Czech Course for Expatriates is open to applicants aged 18 and over in 2023. You will find information on the scholarship on the website of Czech National Agency for International Education and Research and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Accommodation for the students of the Czech Language Course for Expatriates in Poděbrady is provided in a hotel house (Dormitory 2) in double rooms with private bathroom. The rooms are equipped with bed linen, towels, free WIFI. There is a shared kitchen on each floor (oven, microwave, kettle, hob). A washing machine can be used for a fee. The hotel house is non-smoking.

Meals for self-payers are not included in the price of the course. The participants can use a number of cafés and restaurants in Poděbrady. There is a shared kitchen on each floor (oven, microwave, kettle, hob).
The summer school is open only to participants over 18 years of age (in case of younger participants, please consult with us).
It is possible to choose a 14-day program if you wish, which must be specified in the application form. For the shortened programme it is not possible to obtain the government scholarship for the Support of Czech Cultural Heritage.
