The preparatory programme starts with a two-week intensive Czech orientation course, accompanied by an introduction to Czech culture and history and basic information on the study centre and Charles University. Starting from the third week, the teaching of specialized subjects begins in preparation for the entrance exams for art and architecture studies.

Instructors combine theoretical instruction with practical assignments and practice to prepare students for the entrance exams and subsequent university studies (independent work, responsibility, time management). In the summer semester, students can attend lectures at selected universities.
There is no proper study without tests and exams. You will also write continuous tests in Czech and in your specialized subjects and take final semester exams at the end of the semester. The Czech language course ends with a winter semester exam at B1 level and a summer semester exam at B2 level. If you pass the final exams in the summer semester, you will receive a certificate of completion of the preparatory programme indicating your level of language proficiency.
The PROGRESS programme is intended only for students with an initial knowledge of Czech at the minimum level of B1 of the CEFR. Before entering the PROGRESS programme, the student must provide a CCE certificate confirming the achievement of B1 level, or another certificate from ILPS CU confirming this level, or pass a diagnostic test and an interview to verify this level. Students with a Czech language level below B1 will not be admitted to the programme. Students with a lower level of Czech than B1 have the option to take the COMPLEX programme.
